Exposing Hunter: DXD Tournament (summer 2008 / $1,000 cash prize)
Hello pubs, newbs, big pros, and retards. Back in 2008 there was this little DotA tournament that Hunter procured $1,000 USD in prize-money from a random, never-named sponsor. The tournament progressed normally up until the quarter finals at which point no participants were contacted as to when any new matches or information would be announced as to whom would advance to the finals. Then, weeks (???) later, out of the blue, it was announced that the tournament had ended with a bunch of random, Asian (not Asian-American, Asians from Asia... Asians we had never heard of) winners that hunter adamantly claimed were legitimate people. Okay. Where are the replays of the games? There were none. Where is the contact info for the players on B.Net or GGC? There is none. He was aked to provide convincing proof that anything he said held any resonating truth to it, and you know what his response was? He wasn't going to post proof because it would not benefit DXD. Now this is where the main problem with Hunter lies. Hunter's character constantly comes into question as his shadyness spreads over the lands of Battle.Net and never is he able to actually clear himself. Hopefully he takes the opportunity to clear the air regarding this tournament and ever admit his deception or brandish convincing evidence to the contray. Will he be able to? No. Here's the other thing, DXD players would have played this tournament for free. They would have played it for bragging rights. We all know DXDers love to brag. So why even bother to talk about this big prize pool when it's all imaginative fabrication? Hunter's ego. Hunter's ego is larger than both Milkfat's IRL ego and Solace's online ego. How that's even possible, I'm not sure, but everyone notices it once they intract with him for a few minutes. What happens when someone as decietful, shady and egotistical as Hunter gets control over a large portion of the e-esporting infrastructure? The community becomes about him and his ego, not the games and the player's enjoyment.
